VDU-DSE Assessor Course

The VDU/DSE Assessor role is to assess the workstation of a user and to impart the knowledge required to work safely at a VDE / DSE workstation in accordance with the requirements of the 2007 General Application Regulations.

The aim of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the assessment of Visual Display Units (VDU)/Display Screen Equipment (DSE) in the workplace.

Delivery methods - this course can be completed in class or online.

Entry Requirments

English Proficiency:

  • To ensure the greatest opportunity for successful participation in our programmes, learners are required to have a good command of English in terms of reading, writing and speaking. This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or standard of 6.0 on the IELTS.
  • Learners who have achieved a passing grade at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Carraig Safety Consultants, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

On completion of the course all participants will receive all the training materials they will require to start assessing others. PowerPoint Presentation, Guides, Sample Templates, Administration Documentation, Useful Links. Ongoing support will be provided to learners after course completion.

Do I need to have a Health and Safety Qualification to complete this course?

No, we start with the basics so no previous training is required

Can I train my own staff after this course to become an assessor?

No, once you satisfy all the requirement of the course, you can assess workstations only..

Can I become a free lance consultant or set up a ergonomic assessment business and deliver Assessments?

Yes, you will be fully qualified to assess and report for VDU/DSE Assessments. This course is often taken along with Manual Handling Instruction QQI Level 6 as both courses compliment each other..

What do I need to bring?

What Certification will I receive?

You will receive a Carraig Safety VDU/DSE Assessor Certificate.
