PHECC Cardiac First Responder (CFR Community) Recertification Instructor

A PHECC CFR Instructor Re-Certification course is required to remain in certification in Cardiac First Response as an Instructor.

Assessment is required to recertify as an Instructor.

Your instructor certification is valid for 2 years. As an Instructor you are required to deliver a minimum of 4 CFR courses within this 2 year period, these courses can be stand-alone CFR or CFR as part of a First Aid Response Course.

Who Should Attend?

Existing CFR Instructors.

As an instructor and to conform with the Phecc Education & Training Standards, you’ll need to send us the following prior to your course:

  • Copy of your Current CFR Certificate
  • Copy of your CFR Instructor Certificate
  • Proof of your retention training
  • Proof of your 4 courses
What are the Benefits?

Career Progression:
This course is the one of the foundation stepping stones for those interested in entering the emergency medical services, a healthcare practitioner or becoming a Trainer in Adult Education.

Community
A First Aid Responder may become part of a volunteer group on a Community CFR Programme or assist as a First Aider in local clubs. This course will give you the knowledge to assist these groups and impart your own knowledge.

This course gives you the tools and confidence to educate learners on how to treat Life Threatening Incidents. This course could be a stepping stone in adding numerous other Instructor Courses to you CV. ​

Course Content

As a Cardiac First Response Instructor you must complete re-certification training every 2 years. This highly practical session will include:

  • A review and assessment of CPR & related skills
  • An explanation of all current CFR CPG’s
  • A scenario based assessment of an unresponsive simulated patient and delivery of one shock
  • A review of AED safety measures
  • A review of indications for AED use
  • A review of indications for aspirin administration
  • A review and assessment of instructional techniques
  • A review of learning points arising from the group’s experiences of CPR and AED use, aspirin administration and interaction with cardiac
  • SAQ

How will the course be assessed?

Each instructor will be assessed in two areas’. Firstly, they’ll be assessed in their CPR skills and knowledge using the Phecc skill-sheets and the CFR Instructor MCQ. Then they’ll be assessed on their instructional methods by being asked to teach a small portion of the CFR course as part  of the day

What do I need to bring?

We supply all course materials, manuals, packs and refreshments.

What Certification will I receive?

You will receive a Joint Carraig Safety and PHECC CFR Community Instructor Certificate.

How long is my training Valid for?

Refresher training has to be completed every two years

Who teaches the Course?

Instructors are all certified PHECC Instructors with many years experience in delivering this course.
