Basic/Emergency First Aid

 

The basic first aid course is designed for those who may come across first aid situations infrequently. It is designed to give students with the skills and knowledge to provide emergency life saving treatments in common emergency situations.

The course is suitable for anyone wishing to learn new first aid skills or refresh their existing knowledge. No previous qualifications are needed to complete the training as all basic first aid techniques are covered in detail throughout the course.

IMPORTANT NOTE - This course is suitable for those who would like to have a basic knowledge of first aid or may be required to assist a qualified first aider at work. To be a qualified first aider in the workplace you must do a PHECC certified first aid responder course.

This Basic/Emergency first Aid Training Course is suitable for anyone who might have to respond to emergencies in the home, workplace or in the community. This emergency first aid training course will also enable learners to act as a back up to qualified Occupational First Aiders in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

English Proficiency:

  • To ensure the greatest opportunity for successful participation in our programmes, learners are required to have a good command of English in terms of reading, writing and speaking. This standard of proficiency is indicated by achieving or exceeding the standard of CEFR B2+Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or standard of 6.0 on the IELTS.
  • Learners who have achieved a passing grade at Junior Certificate level will be deemed to meet this criterion. However, learners for whom English is not their first language, are required to advise Carraig Safety Consultants, and may be required to provide evidence of proficiency. This could include completing a standardised CEFR test or equivalent.

Note: This programme requires a high level of trainee participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by trainees.

FAQ's

Will this course allow me to be compliant with Legislation in the workplace?

This course is aimed at workers who will act as “back up” in an emergency while awaiting a qualified first aider to arrive. This training will ensure that participants will have the basic skills to confidently treat common ailments in the work place, injuries in the home, and sport injuries.

What do I need to bring?

We supply all course materials, manuals, packs and refreshments.

Do I need experience to attend?

No previous experience is needed to attend this course.

What Certification will I receive?

You will receive a Carraig Safety Certificate.

How long is my training Valid for?

Refresher training has to be completed every two years.

Instructors are all certified PHECC Instructors with many years experience in delivering this course.
